Conference "Forest Education - The System and Law Aspects"

At 20-21 of May 2008 year in Ecological Education Centre Lasy Janowskie take place conference "Forest Education - The System and Law Aspects" organised by Forest Friend Association and General Direction of State Forests.

After listening of 14 referents and discussion conference participants (foresters, teachers, employ of curators of education and Forest Friend Association members) accept following results:

Which take place at 20-21 of May 2008 in State Forests Ecological Education Centre "Lasy Janowskie"

Forest education and utility of contacts with forests in education should find base in law acts,  according to "National Forest Policy" accepted by Government at 22 of April 1997. "National Forest Policy" between other aims and priorities mention ecology and forestry education in society and creating proper attitude towards forests and forestry.

Proposed definition of forest education it is activities for children education, youth and growth and for support teachers education which should include forestry on every level of education, as well as activities for sustainable development, promotion of protection and respect for nature.

It is necessity for National Forest Education Program, which one of the strategic goals should be creating a system of a systematic education. Program would have operational aims: territorial coordination of educational institutions with forest educational objects, assure equal satisfying of needs in country scale, and creation of transport system and pupils visits in forest objects.

This program should also describe strategic pedagogy aims, priorities, tools and partners of forest education. Should consider as well forest education of society with particular consideration of teaching youth, and teaching and perfecting of teachers who will teach forest education. Rules of organization and financing of forest education should be described in national act or disposition.

Forest education programs should be developed also on Voivodeships level and local municipalitis

Financing of forest education should be by national act ordered to State Forest National Forest Holding, in frames National Budget donations set by Ministry of Environment. Beside of present tasks, like creating and leading of promotional complexes and creating of ecological paths. State Forests should receive donations on realisations administrative agreements connected with ecological programs on each level.

In frames of administrative agreements between State Forest National Forest Holding and administrative leading education institution there should be methodical finance advisors - forest education leaders, which after training create connection between foresters, pedagogues and all forest friends engaged in forest education. Participants of those agreements should be also national parks, landscape parks, NGO's and others interested participants.

Getting to teachers and introducing them with existing education offer of forest objects demand creating experts teams for work to which going to be invited State Forest representations, national parks and landscape parks, teachers, methodical advisors and representations of NGO's.

Particular support demand forest education in big agglomeration schools. Teachers in big cites in higher degree need organising of travel activities representing practical possibilities of using forest objects base.

Necessary requirement for using by schools forest objects is support in found raising on realisation field practice, in particularly on costs of transport.

Condition of realisation those educational objectives by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Environment with cooperation with State Forest National Forest Holding as partner is introducing system organization and finance solutions.
